Yahoo Web Rank
So it seems Yahoo has 'borrowed' Google's PageRank concept and called it Web Rank. I don't have room for any more toolbars on my browser!

Two hurt by falling bricks
Lots of commotion outside our office building this morning - road cordoned off, emergency services everywhere and every TV news crew in attendance. Some masonry fell off the hotel across the street and injured a couple of people - hope they're OK. See the report on Newsday

Six Nations Rugby: France miss Elissalde
Quite pleased to hear that France have lost their star scrum-half. England will need all the help they can get to beat them if Saturday's performance against Ireland is anything to go by.
If you're looking for a good pub in NYC to watch the rugby then I suggest Baker Street (63rd St and 1st Ave) - a good mix of nationalities and not too crowded.

My new bike
I just got a new bike (my first since I was a teenager) and spent last weekend riding in Riverside Park and Central Park in NYC. This the start of my new project with two aims: to try and get fit and see some more of NYC.
After much deliberation I chose a Giant Cypress SX. I didn't want a fully-fledged road bike but I did want something that is more suited to fitness training and longer rides than a mountain bike so this seemed like a good compromise. I'm very pleased with it so far - I paid more than I wanted to (damn those pesky bike salesmen) but it's so much lighter and faster than any other bike I've ever had and (almost) makes going up hills a pleasure.
I have a vague notion of entering the New York 5 boroughs ride in May. It's 42 miles long which seems a long way right now, but if I manage to carry on training then I would like to give it a shot. My sources tell me the final leg across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge is a killer though.
Here's a pic of the bike:
